Kitchen & Bathroom Renovation
Remove old, stained or crumbling grout and apply fresh grout in bathrooms, kitchens and floors to refresh tiling and help keep moisture out.
Overview
Grout is the first part of a tiled surface to show age, with discolouration, cracking and mould along joints. Regrouting removes the failed material and replaces it with fresh grout. It can transform tired tiling without replacing a single tile, provided the tiles themselves are sound.
Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new grout is applied and finished so the lines are even. Wet areas receive particular attention because open joints let moisture reach the adhesive and the wall behind. Silicone is used at corners and changes of plane where flexible joints are needed.
Regrouting is not a cure for every problem. If tiles are loose, cracked or the waterproofing has failed, new grout will not hold and tile replacement or shower renovation is more appropriate. For lightly stained grout that is still intact, deep cleaning may be sufficient, so we assess before recommending removal.
Final appearance depends on the colour chosen, the width and regularity of joints and the condition of the tile edges. We discuss the shade carefully, because a different grout colour changes the look of the whole surface, and confirm the scope in writing. Choosing a sample of the shade in your own bathroom lighting is strongly recommended.
Final scope is confirmed in your written quotation after assessment.

FAQ
If it is intact and merely stained, cleaning may be enough. Cracked or crumbling grout needs to be replaced.
It removes grout that harbours mould and gives a fresh start, but mould can return where ventilation is poor. We discuss this honestly during the visit.
Yes, though the colour should suit the tiles and your cleaning habits. Please check a sample before deciding.
Grout and silicone need curing time, which depends on the products used. We will tell you what to expect for your job.
Raking out old grout creates dust, so we protect the area and clean up after. Dust is mostly contained but cannot be eliminated.
