Overview
Worktops take the heaviest daily wear in a kitchen: heat, water, knives and spills. Worktop renovation replaces or renews them with accurate templating and fitting around the sink and hob. It is the right step where surfaces are chipped, stained, swollen or no longer level.
A surveyor's visit establishes the run of worktop, the positions of the sink, hob and appliances, and the condition of the cabinets below. Accurate measurement matters because cut-outs and joints are difficult to correct afterwards. The existing top is removed carefully, and the supporting structure is checked before the new surface is fitted.
Where a worktop is only scratched or dull, kitchen worktop wrapping can be a lighter alternative. Renovation is the better choice when the surface is swollen around the sink, cracked, burnt or poorly joined, since a wrap cannot repair a failing base. Worktops near cookers also need sensible allowances for heat, and we will explain the limits of each material you consider.
The outcome is influenced by the material chosen, the number of joints, how level the cabinets are and any services that must be disconnected. These points are confirmed with you in the written scope before any removal begins. If anything unexpected appears behind the old worktop, you are told before further work goes ahead.

For surfaces that are sound but dull or scratched, yes. For swollen, cracked or heat-damaged tops, renovation is the more suitable route.

Cabinets are checked and levelled where needed, but they normally remain. Damaged cabinet tops may need repair.
We will aim to work around it, though removing a worktop can disturb tiles above. This is discussed beforehand so there are no surprises.
