Spray Painting

Sprayed finishes rely on thorough preparation, because every dent and scratch will show in a smooth coat. Surfaces are cleaned, sanded, filled and primed, and anything that should not be painted is removed or masked. Spraying is faster over large or repetitive items such as a row of doors or a kitchen's worth of cabinet fronts.

Conditions matter. Spraying needs good ventilation, protection of surrounding areas and sensible timing, particularly in an occupied home. In some cases, items are taken off-site to be sprayed under more controlled conditions and refitted afterwards. Heat and humidity also affect drying, so the method and timing are planned accordingly. Items that stay in place are fully masked so neighbouring surfaces are not marked.

Spray painting is not always the right choice. Small touch-ups or tight spaces may be better done with a brush, and some materials and factory finishes do not accept paint well. We advise on the best method after seeing the surfaces, and confirm scope and approach in the quotation. Clients often combine spray painting with door or cabinet refurbishment so the whole set matches.
